Perth-based Gold Coaster Hunt and Volante Rosso were consistently around the top 10 of the super competitive 2019 all-Porsche field throughout the weekend, charging through in race three today to finish in seventh placing after an off yesterday saw them drift outside a potential eighth place finish.
It couldn’t have been a better way to begin the Porsche Payce Carrera Cup Endurance Cup for the team, particularly welcoming a new sponsor in ABC Bullion to the eclectic sponsor group supporting the stunning orange Porsche 911 Series 991 racecar.
Australasia’s pre-eminent independent precious metal dealer ABC Bullion – who’s sister company ABC Refinery creates the Melbourne Cup – joined the Carrera Cup field for the first time this weekend with a commitment alongside Volante Rosso Racing of a $100,000 donation to Tour de Cure in its fight to cure cancer.
The original donation is part of a broader philanthropic program at the core of Volante Rosso and Hunt’s company Circuit Motorsport to use the racing platform and its national exposure to pay forward to organisations like Tour de Cure.
The next outing for Volante Rosso will be in Darwin in support of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship’s northern swing at the entertaining Hidden Valley Raceway over the weekend of June 14-16.
Volante Rosso is a holistic motorsport operation that prepares racecars such as Hunt’s Porsche, race and prestige car storage at its facility in Sydney and it is developing a junior driver development program with third generation racer, Emerson Harvey as its spearhead.
In 2019, Volante Rosso is supported by Lory Construction, Projects Queensland Interiors, The Mad Hueys, Stessl Boats, Highline Caravans, Acronis, AZ Enterprizes, Riedel Communications and Circuit Motorsport Management, along with ABC Bullion.
“Overall, I’d say the weekend was a huge positive for us, we’re continuing to learn more about the car and are really pushing forward,” said Hunt.
“I think this weekend the Volante Rosso team found the spot we’ve been looking for that differentiates the car between a qualifying and race car.
“The issue yesterday really cost us, but today, we had a lot of pace on board and I feel like that we’re getting to the point where we are on top of it and can start to be on the tail of the big guys up the front – we’re certainly not far away.
“We’re in the top 10 and Darwin, I think we can continue to move in that forward direction.
“It was awesome to add ABC Bullion to our partnership group this weekend.
